Reaching out to our community in mission.
Locally
A variety of Christian service projects are carried out by our membership each year. Many of these are sponsored by our Mission Committee and others are carried out through the many fellowship groups of our church. They include:
- Hunger meals in Cleveland
- Food drives
- Clothes drives
- Providence House Baby Shower
- Collecting school supplies
- Supporting the Deaconess Community Foundation
- Assisting local families in need through the Pastor's Fund
Globally
Our church building is located in Parma, but our congregation is part of a worldwide Christian family of faith. Through our offerings to “Our Church’s Wider Mission” (OCWM), we join other United Church of Christ congregations throughout the United States in supporting mission in many parts of the world. We share the Good News of Jesus Christ as we sponsor missionaries, support special programs like child sponsorship and participate in disaster relief as well as supporting local development initiatives which meet basic human needs.
In addition, Our Church’s Wider Mission helps support the many ministries of the United Church of Christ on the national, conference and association level. Through our common effort we start new congregations, revitalize struggling congregations, advocate for a more just society and provide resources to local congregations for a variety of local needs. OCWM also supports our church camps, institutions of higher learning, ecumenical partnerships and other efforts beyond the scope of operations of any single church.
In addition to OCWM, our congregation supports four UCC Special Mission Offerings throughout the year:
- One Great Hour of Sharing
- Strengthen the Church
- Neighbors in Need
- The Christmas Fund
